About Heather Cross

Heather is currently a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Little Rock, AR. Heather started her career in the Texas Panhandle as a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Amarillo, TX in May of 2015, and then joined the Little Rock, AR weather forecast office in October of 2016. Heather grew up in the Texas Panhandle and became fascinated with weather due to severe thunderstorms in the spring and summer months, and blizzards and snow storms in the winter months. Heather earned her Bachelor of Science from The University of Oklahoma in 2015. Through college and her career, Heather has completed research on topics such as “Tornado Warning Communication and Response” and “The Impact of the Storm Prediction Center’s Convective Outlooks on Emergency Management Operational Planning”. In addition to producing area forecasts and warning on hazardous weather, Heather’s primary focus in her job is to help communicate weather information to the public and key partners.
