About Dennis Cavanaugh

Dennis currently serves as the Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service in North Little Rock, AR. Dennis started his career as a forecaster in the Topeka, KS weather forecast office in January of 2005 and moved on to a lead forecaster at the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX office before joining the Little Rock forecast office in January of 2016. Dennis grew up in northern Ohio, west of Cleveland and became fascinated with weather due to heavy lake effect snow squalls during the winter months and squall line thunderstorms coming off the lake during the summer months. Dennis earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Kent State University in 2001, and his Masters of Science in Atmospheric Science from Ohio State University in 2004. Dennis’ primary focus in his current job is to coordinate the communication of hazardous weather information from scientists at the National Weather Service to everyone in harms way.
